Inventors of Philosophy
In beginnings of Philosophy, Plato spoke of the war between the philosophers and the poets. To make philosophy an invention is to concede the war to poetry. Why would anyone wish to make philosophy into a flight of fancy with no relationship to truth? The discovery of philosophy, the discovery that the world confirms to reason, is to great to be mere application of reason, an invention, but is in fact the discovery of an aspect of the character of the whole cosmos – namely, that it is rational.
