Firstly, let's agree on two things:
  • By cruelty, I take you are referring to crime.
  • By Western news you are referring to CNN, New York Times & Al Jazeera etc.
Let us start with the facts:
Most murders do not make news because they tend to occur in areas that are already violent and marginalised. Murders in the townships will not alwaysmake it to the first pages of the news even locally, because that's a daily occurrence. Rural communities are marginalised in this country and that includes farm workers and farmer owners. Murder, is these areas is unlikely to make news either, because they are marginalised.
However crimes with racist undertones will definitely make international news. Secondly crimes or murder that happens on the grand scale like the “Marikana massacre” will also make international news because of the sheer scale of the news.
Let's go through the most prominent and highly publicised stories world over.
Picture no.1 shows you how a black & white , highly trained police force killed 34 mine workers.
Picture no.2 is about two white people who almost killed a black person.
Picture no.3 is about a white male who shot and killed his white girlfriend.
Picture no.4 is about an Indian national of British origins who was alleged to have paid black thugs to kill his wife.
Picture no.5 is about a coloured guy who raped and killed a coloured 17 year old girl
Both the BBC and Al jazeera have produced a documentary on this painful event.

See these guys below? they were tried and convicted on attempted murder in that they tried and forced a black person into a coffin and threatened to set it alight.
This guy below:
is a paralympic champion, Oscar Pistorius accused and convicted for killing his girlfriend on Valentine's Day.

A South African man found guilty of the rape and brutal murder of a 17-year-old girl has been sentenced to two life terms in prison by a court near Cape Town.

He was accused of offering three local men - Zola Tongo, Mziwmadoda Qwabe and Xolile Mngeni - R15 000 to have his wife murdered. She was killed in Cape Town . The story made international news.
All the stories above refute the “marginalised” portion of your question. The Western News does cover news .
Secondly the pictures refute “black -to-white cruelty” component of your question. This component is presumptuous, South Africa is not in a race war. In fact South Africa punishes racism and all forms of racists rants.
Politically South Africans rejected both the Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) & Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging (AWB) for a simple reason, we are not in a race war, instead we should be on the crime war.
Black people are as much of victims of crime as are white folks.
